AMGPS Personal is a handheld personal GPS tracker with a limited set of functions.

Location and tracking
AMGPS Personal has only GPS support, and it doesn?t support GLONASS and alternative systems. It either doesn?t support Assisted GPS (A-GPS) technology. As the back-up, when no satellites signals are available, it uses Cell ID location (also known as LBS-tracking).
There are only two basic tracking modes, which do not provide too much flexibility: by time interval and by distance.
The device continually tracks every 10 seconds (programmable), sending real-time GPS location updates. If the tracked vehicle stops moving, the built-in motion sensor detects this and stops sending unnecessary location information. When motion is detected again, tracking will continue.
Mobile networks
With Quad-band GSM 2G module AMGPS Personal can be operated all over the world.
Power supply
AMGPS Personal contains a 800 mAh battery. It is claimed that battery can last up to 30 days with the optional extended battery pack when set to motion-activated recording, or about 12 hours minimum in constant movement without the extended pack.
Emergency button
AMGPS Personal has a small SOS button. To send the SOS signal it?s required to hold the button pressed within 2-3 seconds. The device will then send a ?HELP ME? text and email to 3 trusted individuals that you have predetermined. The text and email will contain the street address and map link. A ?HELP ME? text and email containing their current or updated location will be sent to all users until the emergency is resolved.
Local and remote management
AMGPS Personal tracker can be fully controlled over GPRS. There is also a wide list of SMS commands in a human-friendly format, on which device always replies back. It supports remote APN settings configuration by SMS.
Also it is fully configurable via USB cable using proprietary software.
LED indication
AMGPS Personal has two LEDs for GPS and GSM status.

Activation process
AMGPS Personal is tightly integrated with this software platform.
Automatic activation (recommended)
The software platform supports automatic device activation by applying APN settings, server address and port, as well as recommended tracking mode though the SMS channel. Normally you don’t need to configure anything manually. Just install the SIM card, switch the device ON and make sure it is located in the place with good GPS signal reception.
When you activate a device, the following SMS command is sent from server to device:

Some parameters depend on your cellular network operator:
- <Apn name> – APN name
- <User ID> – APN login
- <Password> – APN password.
Before the activation process please make sure that your device is switched ON and is located in the place with good GPS signal reception.
Important:
- Do not set any password on the device (by default: “000000”)
- Do not set any master number prior to the device activation
- Do not set the Time zone, it must be UTC+0h
As soon as this command is executed the GPS tracker will connect to the server, and the rest of configuration process will be done via GPRS channel.
Manual configuration
If you experience issues with the SMS delivery from the platform to device in your country, you can setup device manually by sending the above list of commands from your mobile phone.
